Abductors demand N100m ransome for The Sun DMD’s wife

The abductors of Mrs. Toyin Nwosu, the wife of Deputy Managing Director of The Sun Newspapers, are demanding N100 million for her release, it was gathered.

Mr. Steve Nwosu’s wife was abducted in the early hours of yesterday at their Lagos home in Amuwo Odofin area by suspected armed robbers.

The robbers, who manhandled, robbed and ransacked the entire house left angrily with Toyin, a mother of four, after they could not find large sums of money in the house.

While narrating the ugly experience to newsmen, Nwosu disclosed that the robbers gained entry into their home through a nearby transformer, after robbing a house on the same street earlier.

“They came to our house in the early hours of yesterday, after robbing another house on our street. They entered through a nearby transformer and started harassing, beating, shouting at us, that we should bring out the money. I politely told them we don’t have money in the house. They later left with my wife. We have reported the robbery and abduction of my wife to the police,’’ he said.

Nwosu said he tried to call the gateman, who was supposed to be guarding the estate, but his numbers were switched off and as he was about to make further calls, they gained entrance and rounded him up.

He said: “They were asking us where the money was but unfortunately, we had no money at home. God knows that if I had money, I would have given them.

“Robbers had been to my house last year and they were lucky because it happened a few hours after my wife’s birthday. So all the money and gifts people gave her were in the house and they took them.

This time around, there was no money in the house but somehow they didn’t believe me.”

Although he did not state the demands made by the gang, he said: “They have been making all kinds of demand, not only monetary demands.

“The case is being handled by the Okota Police Station. They got here and took my statement but I haven’t really gone there. They must have been called by neighours who noticed that we were under siege.”
